CASH - PROFITS
VOPA and all clubs are governed first by their own By-Laws and associated documents, then by the Venture Out Social Club.
The VOSC requires that all cash donations and all fundraising gross income must be turned over to the Social Board Treasurer. Each club is 'credited' with such funds which go into the VOSC General Fund. They don't go into any specific club fund nor do the clubs have such funds made directly available to them.
However, the initial costs for fundraising (supplies etc.) are 'refunded' or 'reimbursed' by the VOSC General Fund.
In the end, the VOSC General Fund is shared across all the clubs and association as needed with each expenditure approved by the VOSC.
MATERIAL GOODS
Clubs and the Association may receive donations of material goods and items with some restrictions that becomes another topic all together. Suffice to say that incidental items that doesn't obligate special care (costs) can be simply donated. It's common to have folks buy extra decorations for parties and get togethers, plates, cups and plastic cutlery, office supplies and so forth. VOPA gladly accepts most donated plastic lawn chairs, some tools,
NON-PROFIT STATUS
Cash and other value of goods or services donated directly or in-kind to VOPA are NOT deductible on your taxes. The VOSC is a 501(c)7 non-profit corporation which does not qualify for tax deductions.
